Since the beginning of their collaboration, ChanSchatz (Eric Chan and Heather Schatz) has been creating an immense archive. Its principal contents, a continuously expanding collection of abstract forms, are generated through highly inventive drawing sessions.  While ChanSchatz’s archive is the direct result of their collaborative exchange, it is not confined to the space of their studio.  Instead these visual forms appear in every work ChanSchatz creates from digital animation to painting and are often selected by invited participants. This exhibition explores how creating, mapping and utilizing the contents of this archive is an essential component of ChanSchatz’s art practice. — Wall text by Mary Katherine Matalon
